Jonathan Nurmi Frank was born in 1968 in Washington, DC. His parents were Helen and Abraham Frank an ALJ with the NLRB. He grew up in Kensington, MD a suburb of Washington, DC. Jonathan first learned the  Renaissance painting technique at age 13 years. The course was presented to him by the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton LI. NY. The technique involves a complex layering of thin paint in many stages. This style of seascape painting is not taught in schools and institutions because it is time-consuming. An artist who embraces this method feel the benefits fare out way the extra time. Jonathan attended 13 different schools in two different States and the District of Columbia. In 1992 Jonathan became a commercial screen-printer he did practice his trade for around 13 years.
